As software, data and social media become consolidated, and the desktop moves online, it will be interesting to see what the ripple effect might be for social networks/networking – since social media and content sharing lies at the heart of social networking…

As individuals’ personal data moves online (i.e. the personal cloud) seamless syncing and access to personal files and content via mobile media devices follows
Since cloud computing services seem to be lead by the big software and device moguls – Macintosh, Microsoft – will they be tempted to ‘do’ social networking themselves with personal clouds evolving into hubs for social networking and content sharing or will social networks take on more of the characteristics and capabilities of personal clouds?
Possibly something in between is more likely - cloud service providers integrating existing social networks and the twitters and facebooks embedding in personal clouds for seamless file portability and content sharing with a user’s social networks..
Will Google be a player?
